Looking Beyond Horizons

As usual I read a line recently that triggered this post . I am reading a lot these days ..double of what I was reading and it feels good to be able to intersperse the day with work and a hobby ..makes the day brighter .

So the lines go like this -

"A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed . It feels an impulsion ..this is the place to go now . But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds , and you will know , too , when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons ."

I loved the rainbow. Watching its exotic colors gave me immense happiness. Its beauty enthralled me. I felt I was special to have my rainbow. That the rainbow had given me so much and that I needed to protect my rainbow.

I laughed and played with my rainbow, joked with it, made it mine. I always knew that the rainbow was not stable, that it was rare as rare as true love and that it would leave me one day. But I never allowed myself to believe that because I loved my rainbow and felt I owed it to the rainbow to take care of it always for the beauty that it bestowed without asking for anything in return and the sunshine and brightness and glow that it brought to my life. My rainbow. My sweet rainbow whom I believed I loved a lot.

But I forgot that the rainbow’s intrinsic property was to offer its colors but did it want to do just that. What else did my rainbow want? Did it not want newness? Did it not yearn for its happiness the way it had imagined it, created it .Was it also not part of the same creator as well as its creation? Then didn’t it seek to explore beyond its limitations created by its existence in a particular time & space?

Oh my rainbow wanted to be a bird and fly away to see newer lands but I didn’t understand. I never asked the rainbow what it wanted and took care of it as my own, as my prisoner feeling indebted to it for that which was its natural self. Offering gratitude it never asked for because it was born free and always wanted to be free, free to explore.

The child has grown....the dream is gone...rainbows....people....so many times we wish for things that we know wont last forever or which we may lose.....but still somehow we get attached to them....and the pain that follows...

Hey Shruti! This one sounds so poetic. Why dont you write a real poem on you and your rainbow? I'd love to read it :-)

@sushanth - yes ..we get attached because we fail to view our relationships with people the way they stand . We end up seeing it from our point of view and so we are bothered about our pain . Is it not the nature of things as he made them that the child should grow and evolve and change but are we able to view situations and people objectively . If we did that it would be a rare kind of freedom for all human beings .. one that sets them free to soar their skies and find what their soul wants but for that we need to stop caring about false images created by a false society .
@raj - Thanks ... Poem ? hmmm .. if this sounds like a poem I guess it is quite real ...my rainbows ( and by rainbows I refer to human relationships ) .. I would rather not cling on and leave the decision to them ..they love it more that way because they are doin what they want to do and not what I think they want to do . Idea is to leave the decision on them and do what your soul feels is right .
